When I set out to do this photo series, I was overjoyed by the response I received. So many women wanted to be a part of it and were so happy I was doing something like this. My goal for this series was to show how absolutely beautiful breastfeeding is. It has angered me that I’ve seen photos of breastfeeding women that were still being banned on social media websites and even marked as “sexual violence”. Having breastfed my three kids (still breastfeeding my third), this project has taken on so much more meaning to me since it began. I had great conversations with these women about why they breastfeed, and I was surprised with so many different answers. It made me realize how many great reasons there are to breastfeed. I hope these images and the quotes with them will be inspirational to many. Perhaps one day, we can stop seeing breasts as sexual objects and nothing more. It was not that far in the past when showing a woman’s pregnant belly was taboo, and now it is common for a new mother-to-be to want photos of themselves because we realize now that pregnant bellies are gorgeous. I hope society's view of breastfeeding will change as well in time, and if I had even a tiny part in helping that process, I will feel like I did something special. I plan on continuously adding to this photo series, so keep the volunteers coming! Thank you!
